Eric Bompard Names Emily Harris Head DesignerThe knitwear designer comes from the studios of Chloé and Sonia Rykiel.

[Collection]PARIS — Eric Bompard has hired knitwear designer Emily Harris as creative director, WWD has learned. Harris, who joined the company from Chloé, will design the spring collection for the French cashmere specialist, according to sources. The designer has also worked in knitwear design at Sonia Rykiel. Officials at Eric Bompard declined to comment. The company was purchased in March by a financial consortium made up of French businessman Xavier Marie, the French investment fund Apax Partners SA and French public investment bank BPI France. The investors, who did not reveal financial terms of the deal, expressed interest in developing Bompard abroad and online. The 30-year-old group sells sweaters for men, women and children and has 56 stores in total, mostly in France, with around 10 elsewhere in Europe, including one in London. Marie founded the furniture and home décor company Maisons du Monde but has branched out into fashion in recent years with the acquisition of children’s clothing brand Bonton and women’s wear label Paule Ka.
