Chemical Company Navigates Path Toward Sustainability for Denim, TextilesThe firm said it will reach its sustainability goals through product development and certifications.

[Collection]Garmon Chemicals, a chemical auxiliaries and solutions firm, said it has defined its methodology for implementing a greener, more traceable and transparent use of chemicals for denim and textiles. The firm said it has plans to navigate an “integrated path” toward achieving various ecological goals through product development and a range of new certifications. The latest initiatives leading its pledge for sustainability include a partnership with Alliance for Responsible Denim, which offers its “Stretch Care” line, a collection wholly dedicated to advancing the performance and qualities of stretch fabrics. Its collection is centered on utilizing key formulations developed especially for the line that optimize production processes and integrate raw materials with high eco-compatibility rates. This is achieved through the use of products such as Geopower NPS, “no pumice stone,” a compound that reduces environmental impacts and costs by eliminating pumice stone from denim washings, and Avol Oxy White, a bleaching agent and ecologically advanced product that works to achieve localized effects on denim by reducing the need for potassium permanganate, thus enabling a more environmentally friendly industrial process, the company said.
