Microsoft (MSFT) Chief Executive Satya Nadella reshaped the company again Thursday by establishing two main divisions at the consumer software giant.
XShares in Microsoft gained 2.1% to close at 91.27 on the stock market today. Microsoft has dropped below its 50-day moving average amid volatility in the sector, and has a technical buy point of 96.17.
The company will have one division focused on "experiences and devices" and the second on cloud and artificial intelligence platforms. Terry Myerson, executive VP for the Windows and devices group, is leaving, the company said.
"Computing experiences are evolving to include multiple senses and are no longer bound to one device at a time but increasingly spanning many as we move from home to work and on the go," Nadella said in a letter to employees.
"These modern needs, habits and expectations of our customers are motivating us to bring Windows, Office, and third-party applications and devices into a more cohesive Microsoft 365 experience," Nadella added.

Executive Vice President Rajesh Jha will head the new experiences and devices organization. Panos Panay will serve as that division's chief product officer. Scott Guthrie, currently executive VP for the cloud and enterprise group, will head the new cloud and AI division.
Nadella last year reorganized the sales team after the departure of Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner.
